Call for Caring Economics Action Research Projects for Professional Development Workshops at the Academy of Management (AOM) Annual Meeting

Seeking Projects that foster a socio-economic system in which genuine caring for people and nature is a top priority.

Scholars and practitioners are invited to submit projects (either embryonic or in-process projects) that contribute to the development of a Caring Economy for  discussion at two Academy of Management  (AOM) Professional Development Workshops (PDWs) during the 2011 Academy of Management Annual Meeting, San Antonio, Texas, USA, August 12-16, 2011 entitled  West Meets East: Enlightening, Balancing, Transcending.

The organizers are calling for projects that foster “caring” and care-giving including proposals about: organizational and human resources strategies; leadership models and training;  green, triple bottom line and sustainability initiatives; advancement of women, minorities, and children in societies, organizations and families; and  human, cross-cultural relations.  Projects may explore activities guided by a caring orientation, fulfilling human needs and offering a different approach to business and government policy-making that is both financially and socially profitable.  Projects may include new measures assessing national health, socio-economic wealth, human resilience, and organizational performance. Submit a one page proposal for Action Research Projects to Dr. Kristine M. Kawamura [kristinekawamura@yahoo.com] by June 30.

All approved projects will benefit from exciting cross-divisional, cross-disciplinary conversations to design real-world projects that move from concept to reality.  These workshops utilize Action Research methods to bridge research with experience in hands-on, practice-grounded roundtables.
