With the success of the Chevrolet Volt (named Motor Trend car of the year), General Motors has said it will now hire 1,000 engineers and researchers over the next two years to develop other electric vehicles..
The hiring will be done primarily in Michigan. The Nissan all-electric Leaf was named European Car of the Year.
