Transportation has distinct sub-sectors, automobile, truck, rail, ship and air all dedicated to moving people and products from one place to another place . Today most people in the transport industry are looking at how they can reduce their costs by increase their fuel efficiency and conservation, as well as redesigning their equipment, manufacturing, fleet managament and repair, and generally rethinking transportation. Many of these changes are leading to a greening of the sector. We highlight some of those in this Transportation Section.
Study looks at transportation's effects on global warming

A new study released Monday reports that 15% of the manmade carbon dioxide (CO2) in the Earth's atmosphere comes from cars, trucks, airplanes, trains, and ships. This is the first study to specifically measure the impact of transportation on global greenhouse gas emissions.
